Welcome to the studio!
We are Chad and Meghan Nelson, and we're so glad you're here! We are husband-and-wife small-town pottery business. Creating pottery that makes people happy is our passion! All our pottery is made by us right here at the studio. We put quite a bit of care into creating each piece, from throwing it on the wheel to making every eye, tooth, and lip, to hand-glazing each item.
Meet the Artists
Chad has been a professional potter for about 15 years, but his love for clay began in high school - the same high school where he and Meghan met and fell in love! His favorite class was Ceramics, where he enjoyed creating funny 'critters' out of clay. Chad later earned a degree in Fine Arts with a focus in Pottery from Auburn University, and Meghan earned her degree from Auburn in Business Administration. While at Auburn we not only earned our degrees but also got married (quite young!) Together, we opened Nelson Studio for the Arts in 2008.
If we can add a laugh or a cheerful moment to someone's day, we feel pretty good about that!
One day, while potterizing, Chad decided that if he could create something that would help people smile a little every day, it would be worth making. This sparked the birth of his UG CHUG face mugs and transformed Chad into 'that guy with the crazy face pottery.' We now create all kinds of pottery together. We love creating our work, and we hope you love using it!
